Bridge of Spies

Steven Spielberg's gripping slice of Cold War history stars Tom Hanks as James Donovan, an insurance lawyer who agrees to defend alleged Russian spy Rudolf Abel (the Oscar-winning Mark Rylance) following his arrest in 1957. After saving Abel from the death penalty, Donovan is sent to Berlin to arrange his exchange for a captured US pilot whose U2 spy plane was shot down over Russia. But with an American student also held in East Berlin, Donovan insists on making it a two-for-one deal... Superior action fare.

Gripping Cold War suspense thriller, based on Tom Clancy's bestseller. Trivia: a crewman died during filming when a navy submarine snagged a tow cable, sinking a tugboat 10 miles off Long Beach, California.

The clear and present danger this time is a terrorist faction who threaten to create global thermonuclear havoc by detonating an A-bomb in Baltimore. Cue square-jawed suspense as Affleck plays the gung-ho middleman between US Prez James Cromwell and his Russian counterpart Ciaran Hinds. Fingers on buttons...
