The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

2015
117 Mins

The Indian-set Saga saga continues with the geriatric ex-pats firmly settled in Jaipur and currying favour with the locals, particularly garrulous hotelier Sonny (Dev Patel) and his fiancée. There's unspoken attraction between Douglas (Bill Nighy) and Evelyn (Judi Dench), Cockney ex-char Muriel (Maggie Smith) is helping Sonny with his expansionist plans and the arrival of eligible silver fox Richard Gere sets hearts aflutter. Sweet-natured romantic sequel for the older generation.

Director: John Madden

"Love means never having to say you're sorry" went the tag-line of this unabashed tear-jerker that launched Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal into the bigtime and became one of the biggest hits of the 1970s. A simple tale of two young lovers poked in the heart by the cruel finger of fate, it brought on more runny eyes and noses than the common cold. To all the incurable romantics out there: see it; you won't be sorry.
