The Fault in Our Stars

2014
120 Mins

A twist of fate sees bright teenager Hazel (Shailene Woodley) find her soulmate in the roguishly disarming Gus (Ansel Elgort) - the twist being that they're both living with cancer. Facing more obstacles than most but determined to fulfil at least some of their dreams, the pair journey to Amsterdam to seek answers from an inspirational author (Willem Dafoe). But every dream comes with a dose of reality. Winning performances and a light directorial touch ensures this adaptation of John Green's young adult bestseller prods the tear ducts while keeping mawkishness at bay.
