- Terminator Genisys
Available until 01 Jun 2017
Arnold Schwarzenegger is back as cinema's most iconic cyborg, now reprogrammed to protect rebel mother Sarah Connor (Game Of Thrones' Emilia Clarke) from the all-powerful Skynet. It's 2029 and as Sarah's son John (Jason Clarke) leads the war against the machines, he sends his trusted lieutenant Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to ensure her survival. However, when Reese goes back in time, the situation is not quite what he expected... Rewiring timelines and terminators alike, version 5. 0 of the unstoppable saga comes out with all guns blazing in an all-action reboot.
- Batman Begins
Available until 28 Feb 2017
Visionary director Christopher Nolan's superbly mean and moody reboot of the Batman legend sees Christian Bale as Gotham City's leading citizen, crimefighter and saviour, Bruce Wayne. Forgoing the cartoonish goth of Burton and the gloss of Schumacher, Nolan and screenwriter David S Goyer plunge deep into the dark heart and soul of both the city and its bat-fixated saviour with an adventure that goes back to the Dark Knight's origins before pitting him against Cillian Murphy's toxic psycho The Scarecrow. From cast to execution, it's a blockbuster that sends out an awesome signal.
- Robot Overlords
Available until 31 May 2017
In a Britain of the future ruled over by robots, the oppressed masses are implanted with tracking chips and anyone who stays out past the curfew is reduced to a pile of ash. A group of kids - including orphaned youngster Connor (Milo Parker) and enterprising teen Sean (Callan McAuliffe) - are looked after by kindly ex-teacher Kate (Gillian Anderson). While messing around, they discover how to de-activate their chips and make plans to stage a rebellion. Ben Kingsley plays a geography teacher with an agenda as director Jon Wright follows his alien invasion comedy Grabbers with another cool slice of home-grown sci-fi.
- Fantastic Four
Available until 28 May 2017
Chronicle director Josh Trank reboots the Fantastic Four franchise in a marked departure from the recent lightweight takes on the comic books. Four young scientists - Whiplash's Miles Teller (Mr Fantastic), Kate Mara (The Invisible Woman), Michael B Jordan (The Human Torch) and Jamie Bell (The Thing) - achieve superhuman abilities after a teleportation experiment goes haywire. They must now use these awesome powers to save the world from a new threat to the world order.
- The Martian
Available until 24 Jul 2017
American astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is missing presumed dead after disappearing during a fierce storm that pulverised his fellow scientists while on a mission to Mars. They reluctantly headed back to Earth without him... but a sharp-eyed NASA technician in Houston spots movement on the Red Planet. It's Watney, and very much alive... but how do they get him home? Director Ridley Scott makes an overdue return to form in this splendidly executed space rescue yarn.
