Available until 30 Sep 2016
Jack Nicholson's misanthropic and neurotic novelist Melvin gradually rediscovers his humanity through his encounters with a gay painter (Greg Kinnear) and a single mother (Helen Hunt). How his life is retrieved from the ashes is affectingly and funnily dealt with in a well-crafted screenplay, fuelled by a trio of Oscar-nominated performances (Hunt and Nicholson won Best Actor and Best Actress while Kinnear was nominated for his touching supporting role).
- Sex Ed
Available until 31 Dec 2016
A barely recognisable Haley Joel Osment - the boy with The Sixth Sense - plays virginal school teacher Eddie Cole, a sheltered loner who bizarrely gets the gig of teaching sex education to a classroom full of highly curious youngsters. Determined to conquer his brief, Eddie gives the glad eye to the elder sister of one of his students but winds up in jail after an ill-fated attempt at buying the services of a hooker who turns out to be a man. Raucous comedy.
- Meet the Parents
Available until 14 Feb 2018
You only get one chance to create a good first impression and Ben Stiller's hapless Greg Focker blows it over one hellish weekend with his girlfriend's dad Robert De Niro. Nerves are to be expected, but it doesn't help that Pops is an ex-CIA spook whose suspiciousness borders on paranoia. Ben 'n' Bob's chalk-and-cheese act and moments of brilliantly executed slapstick made this an instant comedy classic.
- Failure to Launch
Available until 16 Oct 2016
Matthew McConaughey plays a 35-year-old man-boy who has grown so comfortable living with his parents he decides to stay there. Sarah Jessica Parker is the professional nest-emptier hired by his long-suffering parents to help him on his way. This superior rom-com is given a leg up by a galaxy of fast-quipping supporting stars including Zooey Deschanel as Parker's sassily sarcastic flatmate.
- The Wedding Singer
Available until 31 Dec 2016
Adam Sandler is the goofy suburban wedding singer who turns his romantic attentions to Drew Barrymore's spiky waitress when his fiancee leaves him at the altar. But first he has to convince Julia - who also intends to get hitched - that she's marrying the wrong man. Easier said than done. Zippy, witty and a bit rude, the first on-screen union between Sandler and Barrymore is a truly happy occasion.
