HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX
Hungaroring
About the track
In a
dry, dusty valley outside of Budapest’s northeastern outskirts lies the
Hungaroring, home of the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix.
This circuit is nothing like what you’d expect from a modern F1 track. It’s twisty, bumpy, and sandy, with few chances for overtaking — all of which makes grid position and pit strategy crucial.
Due to the sheer number of slow corners and narrow twists, teams run some of the highest downforce levels of the whole F1 calendar and prioritise grippy tyres and car balance. Don’t expect top speeds and risky manoeuvres. This circuit rewards a driver’s mental strength and patience. It’s the blend of strategy and challenging terrain that bring this race to life.
This year’s Grand Prix is a celebration of the Hungaroring’s 40th birthday and there are sure to fireworks — both on and off the track. Stream all the drama exclusively live on Sky Sports on NOW from Friday 24 July.
