Not all shows and movies on NOW are suitable for younger viewers – that’s where parental controls come in.
NOW’s parental control features allow you to set profile-based maturity rating settings and a profile PIN to stop younger viewers from watching anything they shouldn’t.
Profile maturity ratings
When setting up a new profile, you can choose for it to be a kids, teen or adult profile. Depending on the option you choose, you’ll be able to set different maturity ratings for each profile.
Good to know: Profiles that have a maturity rating set won’t play shows and movies that exceed the selected content rating. Ratings may vary on some TV show seasons and episodes. Kids profiles without a maturity rating set will only show content rated up to 12, including when browsing or searching.
Take a look at the available maturity ratings for kids, teen and adult profiles below:
Kids profile
Maturity rating: | Available content ratings: |
Little kids | U. Unrated |
Older kids | PG. Designed for children ages 8+ |
Family | 12 |
Teen profile
Maturity rating: | Available content ratings: |
Family | 12 |
Teen | 15 |
Adult profile
Maturity rating: | Available content ratings: |
Family | 12 |
Teen | 15 |
Adult | 18 |
Good to know: When you create a new kids profile, the content rating is automatically set to 12. A new teen profile is automatically set to 15 and a new adult profile is automatically set to 18.

Profile PIN
A profile PIN helps you control who can access other profiles on your account. If you’ve got kids or teenagers in the house, we recommend setting up a profile PIN to prevent them from accessing unsuitable content in adult profiles.

FAQs
I've forgotten my profile PIN. What should I do?
If you’ve forgotten your profile PIN and need to reset it, just follow the steps in manage your profile PIN.
Can I control what my kids watch on the live TV channels?
Yes, any maturity rating you set in a profile will apply to the live channels too.
This means that kids won’t be able to access a live channel that airs shows rated above their profile’s content rating at any time. For example, if you set the maturity rating as Teen (15), kids or teenagers using this profile won’t be able to access any content on Sky Atlantic (including any shows rated 15 and under) because it also airs content that is rated 18.
