About the series

Amadeus is a brand-new mini-series from Sky, following the rise and fall of legendary composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Starring Will Sharpe and Paul Bettany, it’s set against the luxurious backdrop of late 18th-century Vienna, the musical capital of Europe. Adapted from Peter Shaffer’s acclaimed play, it imagines the events of the legendary rivalry between Mozart, (the irreverent musical genius and womaniser) and Antonio Salieri (the deeply religious court composer who’s insanely jealous of Mozart’s talent). Starting out as friends, the two soon set their sights on each other, and engage in an increasingly chaotic competition for the affections of women, the public, and the Emperor. But, knowing he can’t beat Mozart’s pure genius by skill alone, Salieri chooses to turn his back on God and destroy Mozart’s life instead, attempting to unravel his marriage, his health, and his career. Stream every episode with an Entertainment Membership.

30 years after Mozart’s untimely death, a forgotten Salieri seeks redemption, and comes to Mozart’s wife with a murder confession. ‘Amadeus’ is a reimagining of the legendary feud between Mozart and Salieri; the coming of age of a musical genius, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and his subsequent demise at the hands of the madly jealous court composer.
