Curtis plays the beleaguered high schooler who - for some reason - becomes the focus of a maniac who has escaped from an asylum. He is - according to psychiatrist Dr Loomis (Donald Pleasence) - a remorseless killer called Michael Myers and he's decided to return to his home town to kill again. And again. And again... Carpenter cranks up the suspense with simple yet brutally effective shocks, his own unforgettable synth score, and a now-iconic William Shatner mask.
