Denzel Washington steps into Edward Woodward's unflinching shoes as the urban vigilante in Training Day director Antoine Fuqua's brutal update of the 80s TV thriller. When Russian mobsters threaten the nice folk of his sleepy Boston suburb, quiet-living tough guy McCall (Washington) dusts off his deadly talents to unleash a storm of Old Testament-style payback. Justice doesn't come rougher or more bullet-strewn than in this eyeball and eardrum pulverizer.
