Ninjago, Hounddog McBrag

It's been one year since Nya saved Ninjago and became one with the sea, and the Ninja have gone their separate ways, leaving a team of New Ninja to interrupt Miss Demeanor's vengestone smuggling. News of the crime inspires Cole to reunite the team, but each Ninja deals with grief differently. They come together around a candlelit vigil to Nya and recognize she would want them to save Ninjago.

Nya, as a water-dragon, saves a drowning sailor who recognizes her. Fellow water elemental, Nyad, helps Nya reclaim her memories, but Nya discovers she can't leave the Endless Sea unless she gives up her elemental powers. She heads back to the surface with a plan to regain her humanity.

The Ninja investigate the vengestone operation, but Miss Demeanor gets the drop on them. After a humiliating rescue by the New Ninja, the Ninja return home and fight each other. Nya manifests her water-form from a spilled glass of water and asks the Ninja for help draining her elemental powers. Against Master Wu's wishes, the Ninja plan on asking old foe Aspheera for help.

The Ninja ask Mayor Trustable to release Aspheera from Kryptarium Prison and to hand over her magic staff, stored in Borg Tower's vault. The Mayor denies their request, and the Ninja decide to split up and break into Kryptarium and Borg Tower incognito against Master Wu's wishes. Skylor keeps Nya's water form frozen during the heist. The Ninja free Aspheera, but the vault at Borg Tower is empty.

Mayor Trustable orders the arrest of the black-clad ninja. Aspheera arrives in the Ninja Cave, but she needs her staff to save Nya. In new stealth vehicles, the Ninja intercept a police convoy transporting Aspheera's staff. They find the staff, but the New Ninja are waiting for them. Their altercation exposes the Ninja's identities, and the Mayor declares them public enemies one-through-five.

Master Wu prevents Aspheera from leaving by agreeing to a series of trials. The Ninja return just in time with Aspheera's staff. The police arrive, and the Ninja battle the New Ninja to buy Aspheera time to drain Nya of her elemental powers. Nya's humanity is restored, and Aspheera escapes in the chaos only to receive an invitation to the Council of the Crystal King. The Ninja are arrested.

The Ninja's trial ends quickly with Dareth as their lawyer, and the heroes are sentenced to Kryptarium Prison. The Ninja navigate prison and run into old foes, including Ronin, who plots revenge. Lloyd receives a mysterious visitor in a Kabuki mask who issues a cryptic warning from the Crystal King. King Vangelis is broken out of Shintaro's prison and invited to the Council of the Crystal King.

Nya feels helpless without her elemental powers but finds inspiration in blueprints for her old Samurai X Mech. At Kryptarium, Lloyd suspects the Crystal King is gathering the Ninja's old foes and that fellow-prisoner, Pythor, is the new villain's next target. The Ninja escape their cells to prevent Pythor's escape, but after a chaotic chase through the prison, the Pythor gets away.

Dareth and Nya, as Samurai X, help the Ninja escape Kryptarium Prison, and another prisoner, Fugi-Dove, tags along. The Mayor calls in Marshal Hounddog McBrag to track the Ninja. Dareth's van breaks down in the desert, and the Ninja split up to avoid capture with a plan to meet-up at Twitchy's gas station.

Zane, Kai and Dareth hitch a ride to Ninjago City with a wannabe singer named Sally. Thinking the police are after her for a stolen van, she leads Hounddog McBrag on a high speed chase through the desert. Zane believes Sally's rollcoaster of emotions is telling her to return home. The Ninja escort Sally back to her farm, and Zane turns on his emotion-meter after seeing the value in grief.

Fugi-Dove isnpires a plan to infiltrate the Council of the Crystal King by impersonating a villain. The Ninja regroup at Twitchy's gas station, but Hounddog McBrag isn't far behind. Fugi-Dove buys time for the Ninja to escape. They confront the Mechanic at his abandoned warehouse. Lloyd disguises himself as the Mechanic and intercepts his invitation to the council.

Lloyd, disguised as the Mechanic, follows a Crystal Spider through a secret subway tunnel. The Ninja track him from above, but the real Mechanic escapes their custody. Lloyd finds himself at a Crystal Temple with the Council of the Crystal King. Kabuki Mask plays surveillance footage of the real Mechanic and exposes Lloyd's identity. She also reveals her own -- Harumi, Lloyd's evil ex.

Harumi narrates her backstory to Lloyd through a series of crystals. She was revived by the Crystal King in exchange for her service which included forming an army of vengestone warriors. She reveals the identity of the Crystal King and that they plan to steal the weapons of Spinjitzu.

Hounddog McBrag arrives at the Monastery and impounds the Destiny's Bounty. The Ninja track Lloyd through the subway tunnels but walk into Harumi's trap. Crystal Spiders explode and collapse the tunnel, but the Ninja shelter in an old subway car. Harumi uses the Ninja's apparent death to manipulate Lloyd to her side, and a dark energy boils inside him.

The Ninja take stock of the situation in the subway car. The Council of the Crystal King attacks the Ninja Cave. Wu, Pixal, Skylor and Nya hold them off with the help of Pixal's MiniPix. Harumi's Crystal Spiders bomb the cave. The villains escape with the Weapons of Spinjitzu. The surviving MiniPix rescues everyone but Nya, who escapes in her Samurai X Mech. She blasts off to save the Ninja.

Nya in her mech frees the Ninja from the collapsed subway tunnel and flies them to their new base at the old Samurai X Cave. Back at the Crystal Temple, Harumi guides the Council of the Crystal King through a ritual to transform the Weapons of Spinjitzu into the Weapons of Destruction. The Crystal King also takes physical form.

The Crystal King gives his council new powers and floats the temple into the sky. He gives Lloyd one last chance to join his side. Lloyd refuses and attempts to escape. He evades the Council of the Crystal King and pulls Harumi out of the temple with him. They fall to the jungle below, and Lloyd's tracking signal alerts the Ninja to his location.

The Ninja steal back Destiny's Bounty and their vehicles from the police impound lot with a surprise assist from Master Wu. They head for Primeval's Eye where Lloyd navigates the dense jungle and evades the Council of the Crystal King with Harumi as his prisoner. Lloyd releases Harumi and joins the Ninja. They temporarily retreat at the sight of the Crystal King's power.

The Ninja clash with the Crystal King's army as his temple floats towards Ninjago City. The vengestone warriors negate the Ninja's elemental powers, and the crystals drain their vehicles. Master Wu and Lloyd track down cryptic warnings of this event. With the help of the paperkids, they follow the clues back to Garmadon, living in Ninjago City with NGTV News cameraman, Vinny.

Garmadon shares his journey of personal growth with Master Wu and Lloyd. Vinny has taught Garmadon compassion through caring for a plant named Christofern. Garmadon breaks his vow of non-violence when Crystal Warriors attack the apartment. Garmadon defeats the enemies by taking on a powerful Oni Form that Master Wu believes could be the key to defeating the Crystal King.

The Ninja retreat to the Samurai X Cave to strategize where Garmadon is teaching Lloyd to master his Oni Form. Lloyd struggles because he does not want to embrace his darker side. Master Wu believes there must be an equal and opposite Dragon Form and reaches out to Misako to research. Pixal upgrades the Ninja's vehciles after studying a sample of crystal, and they return to battle.

The Ninja race through Ninjago City in their new golden vehicles and take out Crystal Warriors with the power boost that Pixal installed. Hope is short lived, and the Destiny's Bounty is attacked by Dragonides. The crystal beasts take the Ninja's new vehicles out of commition. Master Wu confronts the Crystal King, but both he and the Bounty are blasted out of the sky.

Master Wu parachutes from the Crystal Temple and is found by paperkids Nelson and Antonia. Jay rescues Nya from the wreckage of the Destiny's Bounty, and Nya saves Jay from Crystal Warriors by reawakening her elemental powers. They head to the harbor with a plan to call for reinforcements. Nelson and Antonia bring Master Wu back to the newspaper warehouse where he broadcasts a message of hope.

Lloyd and Garmadon escape from Hounddog McBrag into the sewers where Lloyd saves the McBrag from crystal-infected Serpentine. Misako returns to the warehouse with scrolls confirming Dragon Form exists, but the text is incomplete. Pixal rescues Zane but his memory is damaged along with his body, and his Ice Emperor persona resurfaces. Ronin and escaped fugitives escort Pixal to Borg Tower.

Skylor rescues Kai and Cole from Pythor using elemental powers borrowed from both Ninja. They take shelter in an arcade and find Jake, separated from his parents. They head for the warehouse through the sewers to avoid the crystal-infected zombies and reunite Jake with his parents. Elsewhere in the sewers, Lloyd and Garmadon discover their potential Serpentine allies have already evacuated.

Kai and Skylor bond over cooking for refugees. Master Wu and Misako struggle to decypher the Dragon Form scroll. Cole uses the paperkid dispatch to contact the rest of the Ninja and coordinate outreach to their allies. Cyrus Borg repairs Zane, and Pixal brings him back online with an emotional outreach. She summons her new mech from the Samurai X Cave. Borg outfits Ronin's fugitives with mechs.

Jay and Nya contact Benthomaar at the harbor while Racer 7 and Vinny escort Cole through Ninjago City to broadcast a distress call to Princess Vania. Lloyd and Garmadon search the sewers for the missing Serpentine, and Lloyd believes his father might be a changed man after Garmadon spares the life of a crystal-infected Serpentine. Master Wu summons the Ninja back to the warehouse.

The Ninja regroup at the warehouse along with their new fugitive allies. The Ninja fail to master Dragon Form, but Nelson discovers a clue in the scroll that the Ninja must perform a selfless act as allies unite. Borg warns that the crystal army is headed to the warehouse for a final assault. The Ninja prepare defenses as Lloyd and Garmadon head to the temple to confront the Crystal King.

Lloyd and Garmadon battle the Crystal King in his new centaur-form. The Ninja's allies arrive, and the Ninja achieve their Dragon Form - golden armor and wings of elemental energy. The Crystal King turns Harumi against him when reveals he posssessed the snake who would become the Great Devourer. Below, the Ninja defeat the council and restore the Weapons of Spinjitzu, but victory is short-lived.

The Ninja combine weapons and release their elemental powers to form a four-headed dragon. Garmadon dies and triggers Lloyd's Oni Form, but Lloyd resists using his rage to win. He rides the dragon and defeats the Crystal King with elemental breath. He escapes the temple with Harumi and Garmadon, who faked his death. Ninjago is saved, and a week later, the Ninja and allies rebuild the Monastery.
